Repent Of Your Sins

​

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭38:18, 21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.

Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me. Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.”

David was in an awful state, physically and spiritually. He had sinned against God. However, in his lowest state, he did not fail to reach out to the only one who could save and restore Him.

​

First, David acknowledged His sin.

"I will declare mine iniquity."

Secondly, he repented of his sin.

"I will be sorry for my sin."

​

It is important for us to admit our sins before our holy and righteous Father, to truly be remorseful about our sinful acts, and turn away from them. Many of us, as believers, are too comfortable in our sins.

​

Thirdly, David sought God's forgiveness and mercy.

"Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me. Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation."

The thought of being abandoned by God was too much for David to take.

He sought not only forgiveness, but healing of mind and body. "Make haste to help me", he cried.

​

Are you weighed down by sin? Or have you become comfortable in your sins? 1 John 3:8 tells us:

“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”

Let us, with the help of the Holy Ghost, renounce those sins that are keeping us bound, and let us assume the characteristics of our Heavenly Father, who gives us the ability to defeat every temptation we face. ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:16‬ ‭instructs us:

“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”
